The new Lemm Elementary is composed of six Next Gen learning communities called “PODS.” Each POD consists of “L” shape classrooms surrounding collaborations spaces, which are equipped with Solatubes, bringing natural lighting into the space. The “POD” classrooms are equipped with roll-up doors that open up to the centralized collaboration space, giving teachers flexibility to use the entire space.

Lemm also includes a 4,000 square foot addition to the main entry which contains new space for the administration, as well as a security vestibule, canopy and covered walkways.

Other notable areas of the school include the den, library and cafeteria. The den consists of two LGI areas (one large and one small), allowing for simultaneous small and medium learning environments.  Additionally, a retractable glass wall in the den creates a large space for presentations or mixed-use programs. Another Next Gen feature is the open concept design library. The multi-purpose cafeteria is also unique, featuring a perimeter of colorful acoustical panels and a renovated stage with elevated platforms and new finishes.

Other features within Lemm include a maker space with a Lego wall and green wall and special education rooms equipped with color temperature changing lights with dimming capabilities. These lights allow teachers to manipulate the learning environment to suit the different students’ needs. The graphics and finishes at Lemm consist of inspirational quotes ranging from Dr. Seuss, Helen Keller and other highly inspirational individuals. Other graphics and finishes pay tribute to Klein Cain High School for their tenure during the restoration of the elementary school.
